If you are still carrying some of that winter weight, and are not quite ready to show your stomach – try the following:

Opt for colours and patterns with a dark base, or if two-tone, then a darker color on the bottom, lighter on the top. Bold florals and prints distract the eye and camouflage your stomach. Avoid horizontal stripes; vertical or diagonal are best.
Ruched suits are great, with ruching across the stomach. Alternatively, go for a design which features detail on the bust, which then draws the eyes upwards. Bikinis with boys’ shorts are more flattering as they fall below the stomach rather than cutting across it. A tankini will hide some of the bulges, but make sure and choose one that is long enough to finish over the shorts, and not halfway up the stomach.
A printed swimsuit is better for bodies that need a little more work in the gym! Try one of our new styles, the Christina full piece, or our traditional Bandeau Ruched full piece, in various plain colours.

If you have more of a Kim Kardashian bottom than a Kendall Jenner one, best to go for the following options:

LoveWaterLove String Bikini 2013Dark colors have a slimming effect – so opt for a plain or dark print – black tones or cobalt blue

Go for a high cut leg rather than a bottom half which sits low on your behind.

Avoid tiny prints, and small floral patterns

Avoid boy cuts – as they tend to make your bum look bigger

String bikinis and our classic sling bottom are the best options for you!

For the smaller hips try:

Light colors and small prints are fine. Horizontal stripes will give a widening effect.
Boys shorts can help add curves and give you a more hour class figure. Swimsuit bottoms with tie sides will also help accentuate curves. Cut-out swimsuits, where the cutaway is at the waist, will create a flattering, curvy effect.

A swimsuit with peplum detailing, or frills will help create the illusion of curvier hips, try our Ballerina Style Full Piece, or the Sling with Frill Detail3.LWL12.LWL

Options for the bigger bust:

Darker colours and large prints are best, as well as colour block, with the darker colour on top. Avoid horizontal stripes, and go for vertical or diagonal, which do not widen the body.

Go for a style which has a deep V-neck or plunge neck, which will elongate your figure and lessen the fullness of the bust, but still allow you to show off your cleavage. Wide strapped or double halternecks provide good support and flatter narrow shoulders.

Avoid spaghetti straps and bandeau style swimsuits without neckties as these only accentuate the top-heaviness. Underwire cups also give the necessary support and lift. If you prefer more coverage, a sport-racer back design will minimize the bust.

LoveWaterLove Halter Top 201333.LWL

Options for the smaller bust:

Large prints will distract the eye away from smaller busts, but you can get away with small prints too. Prints that follow the shape of your breasts will visually enhance the contours.

A ruched swimsuit with the ruching around the bust area can create the illusion of a larger bust. You are lucky enough to wear the micro bikinis with triangular tops and bandeaus and look great in them. There are also many padded styles available to give you a cleavage that any Baywatch babe would be proud of. Choosing a style with frills, ruffles and other details will also add bulk to your top half.

Another LoveWaterLove Tip:

Mix & Match! Have fun with your swimsuit – we all want to look good, and feel sexy!

It’s winter here in the Southern Hemisphere, and we are desperately trying to find motivation to get us through the next couple of months of cold and wet days.

To my utter delight, I cam across this inspiring slideshow from on swimsuit movie moments, which I found through browsing our pinterest account. Movie moments are always a favourite of mine, combined with swimwear – I couldn’t be happier! So here is a list of my personal top 5 favourite swimsuit movie moments:

Sandra Dee, Gidget 1959

Sandra Dee, in Gidget, 1959. I have always been intrigued by the surf culture, and the role women play. I love this image – she looks very “surfer girl” – and the guys are clearly into her!

Brigitte Bardot, A Very Private Affair, 1962

Of course, you cannot have a favourite swimsuit movie moment, without featuring Brigitte Bardot. This is teeny tiny white bikini would have created a stir back in the 60’s in A Very Private Affair, 1962.

The-talented-mr-ripley, 1999, Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow starred in The Talented Mr Ripley, 1999. I love this two-piece, with the quirky print and slight ruffle – not unlike the LoveWaterLove signature look.

Die-another-day, 2002, Halle Berry

I have to feature this iconic bikini worn by Halle Berry, in Die Another Day, 2002, because at LoveWaterLove, we believe there is a Bond bikini girl in every woman! As a matter of interest, this was not first time this style of bikini was worn, it was originally made famous by Ursula Andress, in Dr No in 1962 – In 2001 the original two-piece was auctioned at Christie’s for over $60 000.

Atonement, 2007, Keira Knightley

My final pick, from’s 25 best Swimsuit in movies, is Keira Knightley, styled in this amazing 30’s inspired look, in the film Atonement, 2007.  I love vintage, and this one piece encapsulates the 30’s beautifully.

Have your say – which would be your favourite?

Don’t forget to follow us on pinterest and facebook for updates on the new range…

A thousand thank you’s to those at Tintswalo Lodge, Atlantic, who provided the incredible venue for the shoot. Tintswalo, set amongst the rocks on Chapman’s Peak, was the ideal location to compliment the LoveWaterLove range, encompassing the natural beauty of Cape Town, and South Africa.

With both photo-shoots complete, we are now in the final stages of preparation for meetings with buyers for the following summer season.

Competition closes tomorrow – go to our facebook site to enter our Lady Gaga competition!!

Margit and I have recently returned from a trip to France, to source new and wonderful fabrics for the 2013 range, and what a success it was!

You can imagine my excitement when Margit asked me to come along to help chose fabrics for the next season at the the annual MareDiModa Trade Show in Cannes; I was giddy with joy – and fast to update my Facebook and twitter status to announce this to the world. Even though we went during the early days of winter, the sun blessed us, and it was a beautiful week. Cannes is an inspiring harbour town, with majestic hotels, spectacular views and quaint holiday homes for the rich and famous – you can’t help but feel inspired.

*Some images of Cannes and surrounding areas

Although things did not get off to a good start, what with Margit’s luggage getting lost somewhere between Johannesburg and Nice, and me, catching some kind of stomach flu, day 2 looked promising right from the start. Walking into the very first stand, we managed to find some interesting prints, and I could see the excitement building up in Margit’s head. Stand after stand we managed to rack up countless hangers, colour cards and catalogues. From floral to neoprene, plain to graphics – we felt like little children in a candy store. Luckily we made the wise decision to sleep on our choices and only place orders the following day. Needless to say, we were over-excited with our selection and had to eliminate more than half of what we had taken photos of.

With the exhibition only lasting 3 days, and us only arriving on day 2, we had our hands full and the pressure was on to place orders fairly early on the 3rd day, by 2pm all was complete and our orders for 2013/14 were set (for the sampling at least)

Now, all that is left is for Margit to carry her inspiration through, and create that incredible collection that is going to wow us all. We are certainly in for a treat next year…

Having started as small fishing village in the mid-19th century, Dar es Salaam is now Tanzania’s largest city, a hub for ex-pats and local citizens alike. With an average temperature of 30 degrees year round, and South African Airways flying twice daily from Johannesburg, Dar es Salaam is growing in popularity as the gateway to African safari trips and the breath-taking island getaway of Zanzibar. Although more popular destinations include the Serengeti and Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam has a lot to offer in its own right, and Yasmine Haji will stop at nothing to make her home country a number 1 African destination.

Zar Ni Gar boutique will open its doors this year August, 2012 on the first floor of the new “Cape Town Fish Market”, an entertainment venue for ex-pats living in the region. A brain child of Yasmine Haji, fashion designer who has been until recently, living and working in London; Zar Ni Gar will stock her own designs, LoveWaterLove swimwear, and shoe collaboration with Doreen Mashika.

The next time you decide a beach holiday to show off your fabulous LoveWaterLove swimwear, try Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Yasmine offers some local insight into what’s hot…
