Top 5 Swimsuit Movie Moments

July 3, 2013

It’s winter here in the Southern Hemisphere, and we are desperately trying to find motivation to get us through the next couple of months of cold and wet days.

To my utter delight, I cam across this inspiring slideshow from Elle.com on swimsuit movie moments, which I found through browsing our pinterest account. Movie moments are always a favourite of mine, combined with swimwear – I couldn’t be happier! So here is a list of my personal top 5 favourite swimsuit movie moments:

Sandra Dee, Gidget 1959

Sandra Dee, in Gidget, 1959. I have always been intrigued by the surf culture, and the role women play. I love this image – she looks very “surfer girl” – and the guys are clearly into her!

Brigitte Bardot, A Very Private Affair, 1962

Of course, you cannot have a favourite swimsuit movie moment, without featuring Brigitte Bardot. This is teeny tiny white bikini would have created a stir back in the 60’s in A Very Private Affair, 1962.

The-talented-mr-ripley, 1999, Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow starred in The Talented Mr Ripley, 1999. I love this two-piece, with the quirky print and slight ruffle – not unlike the LoveWaterLove signature look.

Die-another-day, 2002, Halle Berry

I have to feature this iconic bikini worn by Halle Berry, in Die Another Day, 2002, because at LoveWaterLove, we believe there is a Bond bikini girl in every woman! As a matter of interest, this was not first time this style of bikini was worn, it was originally made famous by Ursula Andress, in Dr No in 1962 – In 2001 the original two-piece was auctioned at Christie’s for over $60 000.

Atonement, 2007, Keira Knightley

My final pick, from Elle.com’s 25 best Swimsuit in movies, is Keira Knightley, styled in this amazing 30’s inspired look, in the film Atonement, 2007.  I love vintage, and this one piece encapsulates the 30’s beautifully.

Have your say – which would be your favourite?
