It’s winter here in the Southern Hemisphere, and we are desperately trying to find motivation to get us through the next couple of months of cold and wet days.

To my utter delight, I cam across this inspiring slideshow from on swimsuit movie moments, which I found through browsing our pinterest account. Movie moments are always a favourite of mine, combined with swimwear – I couldn’t be happier! So here is a list of my personal top 5 favourite swimsuit movie moments:

Sandra Dee, Gidget 1959

Sandra Dee, in Gidget, 1959. I have always been intrigued by the surf culture, and the role women play. I love this image – she looks very “surfer girl” – and the guys are clearly into her!

Brigitte Bardot, A Very Private Affair, 1962

Of course, you cannot have a favourite swimsuit movie moment, without featuring Brigitte Bardot. This is teeny tiny white bikini would have created a stir back in the 60’s in A Very Private Affair, 1962.

The-talented-mr-ripley, 1999, Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow starred in The Talented Mr Ripley, 1999. I love this two-piece, with the quirky print and slight ruffle – not unlike the LoveWaterLove signature look.

Die-another-day, 2002, Halle Berry

I have to feature this iconic bikini worn by Halle Berry, in Die Another Day, 2002, because at LoveWaterLove, we believe there is a Bond bikini girl in every woman! As a matter of interest, this was not first time this style of bikini was worn, it was originally made famous by Ursula Andress, in Dr No in 1962 – In 2001 the original two-piece was auctioned at Christie’s for over $60 000.

Atonement, 2007, Keira Knightley

My final pick, from’s 25 best Swimsuit in movies, is Keira Knightley, styled in this amazing 30’s inspired look, in the film Atonement, 2007.  I love vintage, and this one piece encapsulates the 30’s beautifully.

Have your say – which would be your favourite?

February has been a busy month for all of us here at LoveWaterLove. We are gearing up for the new season, with an amazing selection of swimwear and dresses. For the first time ladies, we will be introducing some flirty cover-ups for the beach, dresses that can be transformed from daywear to something a little more glamorous for sipping bubbly, and snacking on tappas, in Rio, Europe, or even your own back garden.

From a mini photoshoot with Vanilla Photography, to our major catalogue shoot with Alexa Singer, we have covered it all this past month, and are very proud of the outcome from all shoots, even going as far as comparing the catalogue shoot to an editorial for Vanity Fair, or Vogue.

The catalogue was shot out on location, using a beautiful house and garden backdrop. With Model Marija Piskac, from Ice Model Management, and Mandy Gouveia doing hair and make – up, we were very lucky, and managed to get all the images in just under a day. Alexa is a true professional, and we were really happy with the results.

Bronwyn Fourie, of Vanilla Photography is a budding young artist starting out her career as a photographer. She has a real talent, and worked really well with her model, getting the images in record time.

And last, but not least, we shot the Look Book on Clifton 2nd in Cape Town, with model Hilda Pimentel from Fusion. Photographer James Strack worked efficiently with Hilda to cover our full swimwear range in 1 day! Very impressive.

Now, all thats left is for Michele to meet with our stockist across the country with our new range, and prepare for Summer 2012…
